Counselling

What it counselling?

All the counselling sessions are led by you and driven by what is important to you.

I embrace working creatively if it is hard to express yourself with words using painting, roleplay or writing.

Often difficulties within relationships arise from past traumas, ones that have been insufficiently dealt with. These traumas can often present in the form of destructive and unhelpful coping strategies such as addictions, eating disorders, habitual behaviours and intrusive thought processes. This can appear very frightening at times which leads to feelings of anxiety and an overwhelming sense of stress, pressure or sadness.

With this in mind, I also explore reactions and responses and offer a deeper look into one’s self.

Rebecca Leddington

CPCAB Diploma Therapeutic Counselling

I am a qualified therapeutic counsellor in Poole and I am passionate about helping people to get to their happy place. I will come beside you and listen to you without judgment.

I will support you through challenging times and question your beliefs but will never tell you the answers or what to do. I will empower you to be the best version of you.

My aim is not only to help you explore your past but also explore your present. In time, this may help you to find acceptance, peace with your past and enable you to have a better understanding of your future.

Safety and support

I provide a space of safety and support where you can freely explore yourself and build a deeper awareness.

Ultimately you can enable a deeper connection with yourself, more meaningful relationships with others and bring about real change.

Walk and Talk

Outdoor Therapy

Get out of the office, out of the therapy room! Enjoy the beauty of nature, breathe in the fresh air. Walking can help stimulate thoughts and ideas and it connects your body and mind.

The movement of the body can help to move energy/emotion. We walk rhymically  in the side-by side position and that can take the pressure off face-on talking and being in a confined space. There are many visual distractions outside which can help make it easier to deal with difficult emotions. Walking helps increase the blood flow to the brain, therefore helping solutions and clarity.

There is some beautiful heathland in Poole which is perfect for walking otherwise we have the beach. Location can be discussed.

Wow a counselling session outside!

I work integratively, which means that I utilise a number of different theoretical modalities in tailoring a unique approach that best suits you in a creative way. I also use CBT techniques which are proven to be very effective and help overcome anxiety.

Online

Counselling

Where ever you are in the country you can have a counselling session on zoom or a telephone session.

It could be the perfect solution if transport is an issue, if you cannot get child care, have pressures of work and of course time restrictions.

You do not need to leave the comfort of your own home.

Clients usually reserve the same appointment time on a recurring weekly basis.

What can I do for you?

adapted from an anonymous poem from Texas counselling and family violence unit

I am here to listen, not to work miracles

I am here to help you discover what you are feeling, not to make things go away

I am here to help you identify your options, not to decide for you what you should do

I am here to discuss steps with you, not to take the steps for you

I am here to help you discover your own strengths, not to rescue you and leave you vulnerable

I am here to help you to discover that you can help yourself, not to take responsibility for you

I am here to help you to choose, not to make it unnecessary for you to make difficult choices

I am here to provide support for your change
